Atlanta Engagement and Wedding Photography | Matt and Lauren

The story of these two unfolded pretty unexpectedly. Matt and Lauren's first 'dat'e was seemingly an accident, as Lauren had commissioned Matt to design her business cards and thought it'd be great to discuss the project over dinner one night at Baraonda in Atlanta. The rest, they say, is history.

What started out as a business dinner ended in a date, and thus began their romance. Both Matt and Lauren say their personalities clicked from the beginning and they did not want to be with anyone else. Lauren has waited patiently for Mr. Right to come along, and her efforts paid off as Matt is her first and last relationship. Matt is a bit of a sarcastic spirit and his dry comments leave Lauren in stiches; they never stop laughing when together.
Matt Proposed to Lauren at the High Museum, as a complete surprise to her. He had her family waiting in the Robinson Atrium (no relation to him, but he planned it to signify her new last name!)

We started their engagement session on a chilly Saturday at San Francisco Coffee Company in Virginia Highlands. We were all so happy to be around hot coffee and muffins.

The two spend a lot of time there, and it's one of the places they went on their first 'date'. Matt brought along a vintage type writer that they are also using at their wedding as part of their wedding guest book.

After hanging out at San Francisco Coffee for a little while, we made our way to the High Museum so capture the two in the place where he proposed. The light and the lines inside the High always make me swoon and it really is one of my favorite places to shoot. Matt and Lauren will be married in April, congrats guys! Unfortunately, I will not be shooting their wedding, as they already hired a wedding photographer before the engagement session.

Look at her gorgeous engagement ring!
Best Wishes to Matt and Lauren!

New Photo Contest! Atlanta Portrait and Wedding Photography

Hi Everyone. Sorry for the missed week of photo contests. I was with Ruthie, my Marketing Director, at PartnerCon (a photographers conference) in New Orleans. I had my first "beignet" (pronounced: Benyay for those non-French speakers) at Cafe Du Monde, took lots of pictures on Bourbon Street, and walked around the streets with my 'open container' of Bourbon and coke.  I met some pretty amazing photographers and was really inspired in a variety of ways to take my business to the next level.

Saturday night I shot Jimmy and Tracy's wedding at Montaluce Winery. It was phenomenal-perfect weather, perfect venue, and immaculate planning and flow to the night. Thanks to my friend Shawn Reeder who second shot the wedding with me! Shawn is a destination wedding and lifestyle photographer out in Yosemite National Park.

Now for the contest...AMAZING COUPLES, AMAZING FAMILIES this weekend! Here are four of my "best". Vote on your favorite, and the winner gets a prize!

Sarah Esther Wedding Photography | Congratulations Courtney and Thorne!

Courtney and Thorne. They have lived every Hollywood movie's fairytale. Thorne was the quarterback in high school and Courtney a cheerleader. The two have been dating since they knew what dating was, and are truly made for each other.
I met Courtney through a good friend of mine who recommended me to her and we knew we were fit for each other from our initial meeting!
Both Thorne and Courtney grew together in their years at UGA, and Thorne knew before Courtney that they were meant to be together. Courtney needed more time, as marriage is a big decision! Thorne was patient and he got the girl:)
We did their engagement session last fall at North Campus at UGA. Their wedding took place Aug 7, 2010 in Greensboro GA. The day started at the Cuscowilla Golf and Country Club on Lake Oconee. Fantastic grounds, and a great place of relaxation before the big day.
The ceremony was beautiful, as they exchanged their vows. Together FOREVER.

The guests danced the night away at the picture perfect Higdon House
First Dance

The guests wished Courtney and Thorne a great marriage and a wonderful new beginning in NYC with sparklers!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Thorne Brown!

University of Georgia Engagement Shoot- Cody and Katie

Katie and Cody. You really don't meet couples like them everyday, that make you smile the E-N-T-I-R-E photo shoot. Their engagement session took place on North Campus, a gorgeous part of the University of Georgia with fountains, tall oak trees, and classical architecture.

I met Katie in high school as we were both involved in the drama program and cast in the play Grease together.

Cody and Katie met in college at UGA. Cody's dry sense of humor makes everyone at ease; Katie lights up when he looks at her.

They fell in love and are tying the knot at Park Tavern in Piedmont Park on September 24, 2010.

I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in Atlanta!

Please leave messages for Katie and Cody!

Bad Hair Days, Pretty Hair, and Mondays

If you haven't voted in our "Best of the Week" photo contest, click here to vote today!

Monday morning. Even though I work most weekends, Monday mornings are still Monday mornings to me. Like most of you, I heard my alarm go off this morning and wished the clock would slow down so I couch catch some more zzz's.

Check list:
Camera
Extra Batteries
Strong Coffee
Blackberry
Keys

I quickly threw myself together this morning, 'to do' lists running through my head, and then I noticed: BAD HAIR DAY.  Do bad hair days always come on Mondays?

Look at Laura's dark, beautiful hair. I shot her and her fiance, Brad, at my new favorite venue in Atlanta. It was fun shooting them and hear their excitement about starting a life together.
Click here to read more about this hidden venue in the heart of Atlanta.

So here's to starting the week right, strong coffee, and people with beautiful hair!

Isn't she precious? Arden has such beautiful blonde hair.
And a blonde-haired baby doll to match!

Workin' for the weekend

Rise and Shine! I say that as if you people are just now waking up... and if you live on the west coast, that is probably true, so I'll apply my morning greeting to you. It's only 11:56 here on the east coast... still morning, so I say that the greeting still applies. Nana nana boo boo.

Truth is I woke up mayyyybbbbeee an hour ago. Late start definitely. This doesn't mean that the hours of my work day are now shorter, no no no... just that I will be up until 11 working instead of having a funtastic friday night in Atlanta. Ugh. Love sleeping, hate the consequences.

I have about 800 photos to fully edit right now. ::cue crazy eyes:: So my days are going to be lonnnggggg until I finish. No worries, I love seeing what I can do with editing, it is a really fun part of my job! I've included one of the fun pictures that I absolutely love in today's post. doesn't it just make you hear a solo piano concerto? everytime I look at this picture I swear I hear music playing, seriously.

Do you guys have any photos like that? The ones that cue music or smells? Share them!

Yummmmm

Ugggghhhhh I loveee me some chocolate cake! Like love so much I would make it one of the three things I'd take with me on a deserted island. It's THAT good. Of course the cake I take along with my exile to said deserted island needs to be a regenerative cake, or else I don't think it would work out.

So... due to my love of the cake that is chocolate, you can imagine my bliss and the drooling that ensued when I came upon this picture as I was working today. Just look at that gooey decadence. Yum. This picture is from a recent wedding I shot in June, the cake is a dark chocolate mousse cake with strawberry filling topped with chocolate bark and chocolate covered strawberries. It was amazing. This was the only food that I snuck inbetween shots... and I was even able to take a 'to-go' plate :)

I heard an old-wives tale recently that advises single wedding attendees to take a bit of wedding cake home and sleep with it under your pillow (i feel this can get messy), and whoever you dream about that night is the person you will marry.

Sounds fun.

We ate the cake before we went to sleep :)

Neely and Austin... wedded at last!

Well here we go! As promised I am now blogging Neely and Austin's wedding! Neely and Austin were married May 16, 2009 in their hometown of Waleska, GA. Yes that's right... their hometown! they met in High School and began dating shortly after that. They dated all through college and finally at the end of their student paths, Austin popped the question. When asking Neely when they met, she will say high school and promptly follow that answer with a 'but we went to middle school together too, I just didn't know him then... the Lord must have saved me from him in middle school because he was wild!' ... Now the only he is wild about is her, and she him... as you can clearly see in their photos.

I had the wonderful priviledge of shooting their wedding as a second shooter for Joy Wilson of Joy Wilson Photography check out her blog here for more of Neely and Austin!

Ceremony Location: First Baptist Curch Waleska, GA
Reception: Reinhardt College
